OMSI After Dark - Burgers and Brew

The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) is always bustling with lots activities that are both fun and educational. As the tabs along the top of their website indicate, there is an OSMI for everyone; adults, teens, kids, educators, and professionals. They have an ongoing series called ‘OMSI After Dark’ which occurs the last Wednesday of every month from 6-10pm. In case you don’t know what OMSI After Dark is, I’ll enlighten you. It’s basically a child-free, fun, science themed event that includes tasty bites from local purveyors and adult beverages from the NW region and beyond.

Last month we were fortunate enough to participate as Eyeluvbeer in the OMSI After Dark event named appropriately and to the point, ‘Burgers and Brew. Enough Said.’ The unfortunate part, we were working and didn't get to partake in any of the beer and beef interactive demos and activities. However, we did manage to enjoy several beers from the fourteen participating breweries. I even tried Mead for the first time. I don’t think I’ll become a regular Mead drinker anytime soon, but the samples I had from Blue Dog were indeed tasty. Most of the other beers we had were fairly standard. Full Sail, who was stationed next us, did have a popular malt liquor called Big Daddy J’s. It was good. It was around 8% ABV, but it didn't taste like it. It was smooth and Pilsner-like.

The ‘Burgers and Brew’ event was certainly a success. The place was jamming with people from open until close and everyone appeared to be having a great time, including us. We are seriously considering an OMSI After Dark membership. It looks to be a fantastic deal priced at $80 for 2 people and there are a ton of benefits associated with it. If this sounds up your alley, check it out: http://www.omsi.edu/membership

Thanks OMSI for all that you do! You add the word fun to science! Have a great night at this evening’s After Dark event, ‘In the Spirit’, and of course, HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
